About Vicki Adams

It is my philosophy to create photographs with honesty, compassion and humility - creating images that reflect the quiet moments of my surroundings.

I consider myself to be one of the lucky few, whose passion pays the bills, inspires, challenges and rewards me.

For the past 20 years I have worked as a Medical & Scientific Photographer at Mater Health Services in Brisbane.

In conjunction with my full-time photography career, I have travelled around the globe, always taking my favourite travelling companion - my camera.

Whilst the equipment I have used over the years has changed, from a Pentax K1000 to the latest Canon digital technology, my passion and curiosity remain.

When I began my formal tertiary education at Griffith University’s Queensland College of Art campus,
I was trained in the traditional film photography processes.

Today I embrace digital image creation, which is underpinned by the traditional image making skills and knowledge. I revel in the challenge, excitement and diversity that digital production gives me as an artist.

I am strongly influenced by traditional image makers: Henri Cartier-Bresson and Ansel Adams. I also consider modern image makers, Erwin Olaf, Darren Jew, David Summerhayes,
Nick Melidonis and Daisy Gildarni as great sources of influence and inspiration.

The gallery images I have chosen are from my travels and adventures over the past 20 years. And it is my hope to continue to add to these galleries.

To my family and friends thank you for your love, support and encouragement. For without you, my dreams and photographs would not exist.

Welcome. Please enjoy the environments and subjects that have been revealed to me.
